This endowment fund supports people ages 35 and under; these funds are given to organizations and not individuals.
Amounts granted
The René-Lévesque youth foundation is an endowment fund whose interest is redistributed every year. The amount varies and depends on the annual return of investment.
Each approved project receives a maximum of $2000. Beyond this amount, financing will be treated as an agreement in accordance with the existing René-Lévesque youth foundation managerial framework. Projects addressing regional issues will be given priority.
Thanks to funds allocated by the René-Lévesque youth foundation, the Youth Commission has supported projects related to young peoples’ entrepreneurial endeavours, and initiatives that encourage them to remain and establish themselves in the region.
Supported Projects
Cultural recreational activities for young people in the Gaspé and the Magdalen Islands.
Organization: Regional Directorate for the Gaspé and the Magdalen Islands – Ministère de la Culture et des Communications Québec
Amount funded by the René-Lévesque youth foundation: $30K
Project contribution: : 40% of the project
Project Goals: : MMaintain youth participation in the region’s cultural activities, and support training and coaching for those involved in the region’s cultural activities.

Support for the Gaspé and Magdalen Island Youth Services Cooperative (coopératives jeunesse de services (CJS))
Organization: Gaspé and the Magdalen Islands Youth Commission
Project Goals: 11% of the project
Project Goals: Support the creation of the region’s Youth Services Cooperative (coopératives jeunesse de services (CJS)). These cooperatives help young people ages 14 to 17 discover their own abilities and collective responsibilities in transforming and shaping the future of their communities.

The Gaspé-Peru international project
Organization: The Avignon-Bonaventure youth employment centre
Contribution FJRL: 40% of the project
Project Goals: A socioprofessional insertion programme designed to help 10 young people (ages 18 to 25) with non-linear or alternative professional life paths. The programme addresses academic perseverance, and helps develop their skills and positive attitudes that will help them successfully achieve their goals.

Regional Gaspé and the Magdalen Islands youth center workshop
Organization: Maison des jeunes l’Intermède de Gaspé
Project contribution: 10% of the project
Project Goals: The establishment of a two-day workshop for 60 young people, ages 12 to 17. The workshop’s main goal is to focus on academic perseverance, but also addressed topics related to intimae relationships, respecting each other’s differences, self-esteem, and rights and laws pertaining to youths.
