The Gérard-D. Levesque foundation was created in 1993 to offer financial support to students from the Gaspé and Magdalen Islands, engaged in graduate studies.
Since its inception, the foundation has expanded its mandate to include all post secondary students, and to help young people from the region access higher education. In collaboration with the government of Quebec, the Gérard-D. Levesque foundation, the Gaspésie–Les Îles community foundation, and the Youth Commission, the Gérard-D. Levesque scholarship fund, totalling over $500 000, was created in 2007.
