“Vision Jeunesse”
In order to understand the reality and lived experiences of the youth in the Gaspé and Magdalen Islands, the Youth Commission surveyed 1232 youths between the ages of 12 and 35 living in the region. The results of this survey identified seven key priorities.
Priorities for the youths of the region (in order of importance)
Focus efforts on making sure that young people come back, work, and establish themselves in the region.
Support entrepreneurial efforts that rejuvenate the Gaspé and Magdalen Islands
Support access to housing
Increase the quality of services offered to vulnerable or struggling youths (difficulties at school, substance abuse problems, self-confidence issues, etc…)
Increase the quantity and accessibility of recreational activities
Foster pride in living in the Gaspé and Magdalen Islands
Get youths involved and volunteering in their communities
